About Red Dog

Red Dog Operations is both the largest critical minerals mine in the United States and one of the largest zinc mines in the world. In 1982, Red Dog was developed through a partnership between Teck and the land‑owner NANA, an Alaska Native corporation owned by the Iñupiat of northwest Alaska. The partnership between Teck and NANA ensures real benefits for the local Iñupiat community, while recognizing there is still more to do as we advance our commitment to sustainable practices and meaningful engagement.

Role Overview

Teck is looking for motivated geology students to support Teck’s exploration efforts in the world‑class Red Dog District in the De Long Mountain range of northwestern Alaska, U.S.A. Successful applicants will primarily support Red Dog Mine Life Extension (RD MLE), an advanced‑stage, sediment‑hosted Zn–Pb–Ag drilling program, performing core‑logging preparation and geotech logging. Summer Student Geologists will also be able to participate in field programs related to exploration for early‑stage sediment‑hosted Zn–Pb targets within the Red Dog district.

Reporting to the Project Geologist, the Summer Student Geologist will be responsible for work, including core preparation for scanning and logging, simple geotech logging, supporting program logistics, and collaborating with team members to support the 2025 exploration program. Summer Student Geologists will be exposed to working in a large, diverse, multidisciplinary geoscience team based out of Teck’s remote Red Dog Operations.
