Position: Rigger/ Signalman (Rotational Schedule) - Prudhoe Bay, AK

Job Overview

This remote/rotational position is located in Prudhoe Bay, AK. Typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 straight time hours and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Essential Functions
  • Erect, raise, join, and otherwise place structural components or members to form completed structures or structural frameworks.
  • Lift/move equipment/material by crane or other lifting/hoisting devices.
  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks & sheaves according to weight and size of load.
  • Set up, brace/rig hoisting equipment, using hand tools/power wrenches.
  • Use proper care with tools and equipment employed in industrial construction such as air tools, torque wrenches, cutting torches, chain hoists and come‑along.
  • Give/receive directions to/from crane operator while engaged in hoisting and moving loads using hand signals or radio communications.
  • Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material in a petrochemical‑facility or on a construction project.
  • Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin‑pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
  • Attach load with lifting devices, such as wire rope, nylon slings, shackles and chains, to crane hook.
  • Direct cranes and equipment to complete various tasks around a facility or construction project in a safe and efficient manner.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of rigging devices and components such as wire ropes, chains, slings, hooks, sockets, thimbles, spreader bars, sheaves, pulleys and lifting equipment.
  • Knowledge of the standard methods of safely rigging and lifting equipment and materials such as structural steel, pipe, conduit, vessels, rotating equipment, heaters and other industrial equipment the project may dictate.
  • Knowledge of the proper use and care of tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial construction project such as chain falls, jacks, slings, chokers, shackles and clips.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, rigging diagrams and lifting capacity charts for equipment and load‑carrying parts.
  • Ability to give and understand all common hand signals and safety connections to lifting equipment and materials.
Physical Demand & Work Environment

Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. The candidate must understand that the site is approximately 840 miles from surgical, specialist and tertiary medical care and that medical evacuation may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions.

  • Ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead and exhibit normal balance and coordination.
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather.
  • Ability to climb scaffolds, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
  • Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
  • Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
  • Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
  • Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
  • Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
  • Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.
