Heavy Duty Mechanic Automotive Advanced Journey/Lead
Responsibilities- Maintain all heavy‑duty and light‑duty equipment and vehicles associated with construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports and other agency vehicles.
- Resolve unusual or complex equipment problems using diagnostic techniques and methods; perform routine and specialized repair and maintenance on heavy equipment.
- Diagnose, maintain, repair and modify transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission, fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and brake systems—including air and electrical—for light and heavy‑duty equipment.
- Mechanical:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance. - Flexibility:
Is open to change and new information; rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles. - Vehicle Maintenance:
Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance. - Self‑Management:
Sets well‑defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
- A copy of your Class A CDL, front and back (if applicable).
- Three professional references; include name, title and phone number.
This position requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per federal regulations. The incumbent must obtain a Class A Alaska CDL within 120 days of hire and comply with DOT&PF Drug & Alcohol policy.
Tool AllowanceEmployees must provide their own hand tools. A bi‑weekly tool allowance will be paid according to the LTC contract.
