Position: Maintenance Specialist - Bldg/Facility/Const, Journey 2/Lead (HVAC PCN 20-5430)

Job Summary

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions is recruiting for a Maintenance Specialist, Building/Facility/Construction, Journey 2/Lead, at Goose Creek Correctional Center in Mackenzie Point, Alaska.

Responsibilities
  • Service, clean, and repair gas fired burners, HVAC equipment, ventilation system, refrigeration equipment, freezers, compressors, and water heaters.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine inspections and perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on all HVAC equipment, ventilation system, refrigeration equipment, freezers, compressors, and water heaters.
  • Obtain quotes and advise supervisor for ordering purposes when parts are needed; assure parts are readily available when needed.
Qualifications
  • Accountability:
    Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
  • Mechanical:
    Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
  • Oral and Written Communication:
    Expresses information clearly and convincingly, listens and responds appropriately.
  • Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, and related equipment is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
Work Environment

Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. The role involves working closely with staff and, on behalf of the facility, with inmates daily.
