Position: Tire Technician/Mechanic (Class B CDL Required) - WNS & Kuparuk - Fleet Shop

JOB SUMMARY

The Tire Technician/Mechanic is responsible for repairing and replacing tires on a wide range of light- and heavy-duty vehicles, equipment, and machinery in both shop and field environments. This position also diagnoses, repairs, and maintains construction‑related vehicles and equipment, and performs routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on tires and related equipment. It assists mechanics and expediters with tasks as needed. The role reports directly to the Shop Foreman and Service Writer.

A valid U.S‑issued Alaska‑compliant Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Mount, dis‑mount, rotate, and repair tires on equipment and machinery.
  • Change flat tires in the field on light and heavy‑duty equipment and vehicles.
  • Unload and load tires and related items as required.
  • Operate jacks to lift and position vehicles for tire repair.
  • Operate tire truck, 32K GVWR with tire clamp boom.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance activities on light and heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Track and maintain tire inventory.
  • Maintain records, logs and schedules of all requests and work orders using Fleet Focus.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools and the general work area.
  • Assist light and heavy‑duty mechanics during repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Comply with company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability for safe work practices in all projects, activities and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid (U.S. issued, Alaska compliant) Class B CDL is required.
  • A current DOT Medical Card is required.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
  • The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with and changing tires on both light‑duty and heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment is required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining construction‑related vehicles and equipment is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Four (4) or more years of experience working as a Tire Technician/Mechanic specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope and/or in other Arctic environments is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements for this position include the ability to work in remote Arctic locations, comply with ASRC Energy Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, pass a drug test, meet a fit‑for‑duty exam, complete a background check, and maintain an access badge. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities. Physical fitness and capacity for heavy lifting, operating large equipment and working in extreme weather conditions are essential.

A post‑offer, pre‑hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted, and availability is contingent upon continued operational needs after training.
