The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is recruiting for a

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 1/2/3 located in Wasilla!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 16/18/20.

What You Will Be Doing:

In this position, you will evaluate and determine client eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services, approve individualized employment plans, and authorize case closures. You will provide counseling and guidance to clients with disabilities to help them identify career goals, overcome barriers, and achieve meaningful employment. The role involves interpreting assessments to determine each client's strengths, abilities, and rehabilitation needs while developing and implementing effective service strategies.

You will also approve and monitor services such as assistive technology, medical or psychological evaluations, and training or placement supports in accordance with federal regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate with schools, employers, and community partners to coordinate services, promote program awareness, and support successful employment outcomes for clients with disabilities.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is located in a busy yet quiet administrative office and operates during regular business hours (8am - 5pm); flexibility is available within those hours in addition to the ability to telework  will be working with a team of para-professional and professional staff helping Alaskans with disabilities obtain and maintain employment.
