We are seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Transportation Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily logistics of our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient scheduling, communication, and tracking of vehicles and drivers while maintaining excellent customer service quality and compliance with company policies. This position is a hub for access keys to facilities and vehicles, and interacts with many departments.

Denali National Park & Preserve

Denali National Park & Preserve spans 6.2 million acres and attracts over half a million visitors annually. Conveniently accessible by road, the park is 4.5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. Our operation runs from May to September and manages transportation, retail, guest service, and food & beverage concessions, operating a 100‑vehicle Blue Bird Bus fleet that brings guests to the 15‑mile public access point daily during summer months.

Job Responsibilities Dispatch Operations
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate locations based on customer requests, service requirements, and available resources.
  • Monitor vehicle routes and adjust schedules to optimize efficiency and reduce delays.
  • Ensure timely communication with drivers to provide updates, changes, or instructions.
Communication
  • Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Respond to emergencies and serve as the communication hub for management and staff during emergencies.
  • Address inquiries, provide status updates, and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Tracking And Reporting
  • Use GPS tracking systems and other tools to monitor vehicle locations and driver performance.
  • Record and report key metrics such as delivery times, delays, and incidents.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on transportation performance and efficiency.
Compliance And Safety
  • Ensure all transportation activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor driver adherence to safety protocols, hours of service, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with mechanic teams to ensure vehicles are inspected and operational.
Problem‑Solving
  • Quickly identify and resolve logistical or operational challenges such as route disruptions, vehicle breakdowns, or personnel shortages.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential service disruptions.
Administrative Duties
  • Maintain accurate records of dispatch schedules, delivery logs, and customer communications.
  • Enter and update driver schedules.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience demonstrating the ability to organize, prioritize, and process information.
  • Strong multi‑tasking skills.
  • At least 1 year of supervisor/team lead experience.
  • Attention to detail and creative problem‑solving ability.
  • Excellent customer service skills and proper phone etiquette.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Preferred: experience in a transportation‑related dispatch office.
  • Additional: office‑related work and customer service experience.
Physical Demands & PPE

This role may involve lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing. Uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
