Position: Equipment Operator Journey 2 (PCN 252152) Nome

Job Summary

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways & Aviation, Western District is looking for an Equipment Operator Journey 2 to help keep Alaska moving. As an Equipment Operator in Nome, you will operate heavy machinery to support construction and road maintenance activities. You’ll perform routine inspections, basic maintenance, and work closely with your team to complete projects safely and efficiently.

The role requires adaptability to changing conditions and the ability to work both independently and as part of a crew in a rural environment.

Working Environment

This position is located in Nome, AK. It follows a unique two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off schedule. Employees work in remote locations and urban centers across Alaska, facing rugged terrain and extreme seasonal changes.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment, conduct inspections, perform basic maintenance, and collaborate with crew members to execute construction and road maintenance projects efficiently and safely.

Qualifications

A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License with Tanker & Air Brake endorsement is required at time of hire. Applicants must provide a current copy of the CDL with endorsement, register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse, and provide consent to review driver information in accordance with federal regulations.
