We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to provide full‑time, on‑site safety leadership for a mechanical contractor supporting an active Amazon data center project in Waterbury, Connecticut. This opportunity offers a consistent Monday‑Friday day‑shift schedule, competitive hourly compensation, and the chance to support a high‑visibility commercial construction project. The selected professional will serve as the primary safety authority for the mechanical contractor, working closely with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, craft personnel, and client representatives.
Compensation- Contractor Rate: $52–$57 per hour

Not available - Candidates must be local to the Waterbury area or able to work in Waterbury without per diem or relocation assistance.

Monday through Friday - Shift: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
The Safety Manager will provide visible, hands‑on safety oversight for mechanical construction activities within an active data center environment. This position requires a confident field leader who can proactively identify hazards, reinforce project safety expectations, communicate effectively with crews and leadership, and maintain accurate, client‑ready documentation. The successful candidate must be comfortable balancing strong safety enforcement with the operational demands of an active construction project.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily, on‑site safety leadership for mechanical construction activities
- Oversee and enforce site‑specific safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Conduct daily jobsite inspections, field audits, and hazard assessments
- Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate immediate corrective actions
- Review job hazard analyses, pre‑task plans, permits, and safety documentation
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee orientations
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and client‑specific safety standards
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
- Complete incident reports, root‑cause reviews, and corrective action tracking
- Maintain accurate and professional safety records and reports
- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and client representatives
- Monitor contractor compliance and reinforce safe work practices throughout the project
- Support mechanical scopes involving piping, equipment installation, hot work, material handling, and elevated work
- OSHA 500 certification
- Minimum six years of full‑time construction safety management experience
- Experience supporting large‑scale commercial or industrial construction projects
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards
- Demonstrated experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations
- Strong written documentation and reporting capabilities
- Professional verbal communication and field leadership skills
- Ability to work full‑time on site for the entire project duration
- Data center construction
- Mechanical construction, piping, HVAC, or equipment installation
- Large general contractor or high‑compliance project environments
- Hot work, elevated work, material handling, and equipment installation safety
- Client‑facing safety meetings and professional reporting
- Managing multiple crews and subcontractors across active work areas
- A credible and professional field safety leader
- Confident addressing unsafe behavior directly and respectfully
- Skilled at building working relationships with project leadership and field personnel
- Organized, responsive, and detail‑oriented
- Comfortable producing polished, client‑ready documentation
- Proactive in identifying hazards before they result in incidents
- Capable of enforcing standards without unnecessarily disrupting production
