POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Alumni Career Engagement leads strategic initiatives to engage alumni in career development, mentoring, and advancement programming. This role oversees alumni-facing events, manages key relationships across campus and industry, and supervises the Manager of Alumni Career Engagement. The Director plays a critical role in integrating alumni into the student experience, coordinating cross-campus efforts, and promoting inclusive, data-informed engagement strategies.
This position is an in-person position at Post’s main campus or downtown Waterbury location.
ESSENTIALACCOUNTABILITIES Leadership, Strategy & Promotion
- Lead the hiring, training, and supervision of the Manager of Alumni Career Engagement; promote professional development through conferences and industry engagement.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with institutional goals and departmental priorities related to alumni and advancement.
- Partner with the Director of Employer Relations & Experiential Learning on shared outreach, events, and marketing to engage alumni and employers.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by applying inclusive practices that support the success of all students, staff, and stakeholders.
- Represent the department at professional conferences and events; share key insights with staff and strengthen the office’s visibility in the field.
- Lead alumni-focused marketing and communication efforts to promote engagement opportunities and career advancement resources.
- Maintain relationships with alumni serving as mentors, panelists, and employer contacts.
- Cultivate alumni donors and advisory board members for advancement initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty and departments to integrate alumni stories and mentorship into curriculum and student organizations.
- Collaborate with departments and contribute to campus-wide initiatives and committees as appropriate.
- Lead the planning and execution of alumni engagement events (e.g., panels, networking nights, mentoring sessions)
- Report on alumni participation in career initiatives, hiring pipelines, mentoring programs, and post-graduation outcome data.
- Oversee the budget for alumni career events, mentoring initiatives, and advancement-related programming.
- Oversee the alumni database and lead its implementation and integration with career systems and other relevant university platforms.
- Oversee the First Destination Survey, create reports, and serve as liaison for all institutional alumni surveys.
- Develop dashboards to visualize alumni engagement trends, mentoring participation, and advancement impact.
There will be other duties as assigned for the position. This position requires a flexible schedule with some evening and weekend hours to meet the operational needs of the Career Development Center.

QUALIFICATIONS Education- Master’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in alumni relations, advancement, career services, or a related field
- Demonstrated success in leading alumni engagement programs, supervising staff, and coordinating cross-campus initiatives.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Proven ability to cultivate and sustain alumni relationships across diverse industries and roles.
- Experience developing marketing strategies and communication campaigns for alumni engagement.
- Strong understanding of inclusive engagement practices and advancement trends
- Ability to manage budgets, assess program effectiveness, and use data to inform strategy.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and institutional planning.
- Familiarity with alumni databases, Handshake, Big Interview, and UConnect for employer engagement and career services delivery
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) for documentation, reporting, and communication
