Adult Education Science Teacher

• Plan and prepare throughout the year for goal-oriented, curricula aligned instruction. Submit weekly lesson plans, which reflect the curriculum and address learning needs and styles.
• Adapt the curriculum to provide individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual student. Integrate technology into classroom instruction.
• Adapt content material and methods to develop relevant sequential activities that guide and challenge students.
• Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior necessary to facilitate a variety of learning styles, ability levels, and educational/language backgrounds.
• Teach content area to effect the planned student growth as designated in the curriculum. Continuously monitor evidence of students demonstrating the ability to perform curriculum goals as prescribed in the curriculum. Maintain records of assessment.
• Interact cooperatively with other staff members in the development of cohesive curricula materials and the establishment of instructional goals.
• Utilize textbooks and instructional supplies appropriate to the interest and maturity level of the students in addition to employing technology (computer, video, internet, etc.) as appropriate to enhance instruction.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date daily records of student progress and attendance.
• Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required by the Adult Education Program Principal.

BA and Valid State of Connecticut Teaching Certification for grades 7-12; 034 general science or 033, 032, 031.

Monday - Friday, 7:50 a.m - 1:15 p.m. School Year (10 months)

Salary: $34 per hour. No benefits.

This is a Part-Time, non-union Grant Funded position which will exist as long as funds are available.
