Post University is seeking an Assistant Coach – Men’s Ice Hockey (part‑time) to join our team.

Due to Post‑specific operational and administrative considerations, the position is not approved to be performed in Alaska, California, Hawaii, or New York. Candidates must be physically located and perform their work from an approved state.
JOB SUMMARYThe Assistant Coach for Men’s Ice Hockey supports the Head Coach in all aspects of program operations, including student‑athlete development, recruitment, academic support, and team logistics. This role assists in planning and directing training, evaluating student‑athlete performance, and fostering a positive team culture that emphasizes athletic excellence, academic success, and personal growth.
The Assistant Coach must demonstrate knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and possess a strong understanding of hockey concepts, practices, and procedures. This position operates under general supervision and requires sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Pay: $20,000 stipend paid over the 10‑month season.
Schedule: flexible, must be available to work nights and weekends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Head Coach in monitoring and supporting strength and conditioning programs.
- Support on‑ice and off‑ice coaching activities, including practice planning and implementation, as well as individual and team instruction.
- Assist with academic oversight for student‑athletes, including study hall supervision, academic progress monitoring, and related meetings.
- Participate in recruiting efforts, including prospect evaluation, database management, correspondence, and phone outreach.
- Provide input on the evaluation and development of student athletes.
- Complete the NCAA recruiting certification exam.
- Assist with scouting opponents and preparing game strategies.
- Support the coordination and planning of team travel within budgetary guidelines.
- Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events and special functions in alignment with departmental initiatives.
- Promote and support the academic success, personal development, and well‑being of student‑athletes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in collaboration with the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS- Collegiate coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and video analysis platforms (e.g., Synergy or similar tools).
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor student‑athletes.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, student‑athletes, recruits, and their families.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to NCAA Division II rules, regulations, and compliance.
