Academic Coach provides academic, as well as social and emotional learning, curriculum to our Upward Bound scholars. The Academic Coach’s main function is to work with students to guide them towards the knowledge and personal resilience that they will need to successfully navigate their high school career and then to matriculate to an institution of higher learning.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Upward Bound Director, the Academic Coach is responsible for effective performance in these essential duties:
- Provide academic coaching through individual or group sessions
- Assess students’ learning needs and develop academic success plans to help students
- achieve their academic goals.
- Instruct students on individualized academic strategies including recommending and modeling effective time management and organization skills, goal setting, note-taking, test taking/studying, and effective reading and writing strategies
- Monitor students’ progress with regular check-ins, scheduled meetings, and proactive outreach and communication.
- Motivate students to practice self-regulation, self-advocacy, and taking ownership of their academic success.
- Help students identify, develop, and implement learning strategies and study skills customized to specific disciplines and course materials.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in the Educational field.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- $43.70 hourly
