Position Highlights
Schedule:
first shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday.
Location:
W.F. Kaynor Technical High School, Waterbury, CT.
Salary: VS01-VS02, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers.
Academic Calendar: CTECS follows a ten-month academic calendar (188 days per year).
Mandated CredentialsApplicants must possess an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in one of the following areas:
- 029 Mathematics, 4-12 endorsement
- Eligible for a State of Connecticut teaching certificate in subject area (includes ARC candidates)
Planning and Preparation
- Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives.
- Use appropriate techniques and serve the needs of all learners through differentiation.
- Develop instructional goals, outcomes, and assessments.
- Design learning opportunities and assessments for individual and group settings.
- Adjust instruction based on ongoing assessments.
Classroom Environment
- Develop mutual respect and rapport with students.
- Establish a culture for learning.
- Manage procedures and student behavior positively.
- Organize physical space to maximize learning opportunities.
Instruction
- Effectively communicate with students and use questioning techniques.
- Keep students intellectually engaged.
- Follow the scope and sequence of the approved CTECS instructional program.
- Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through individual and small group settings.
- Use assessments on an ongoing basis to design clear learning tasks.
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness.
Professional Responsibilities
- Reflect on teaching practices.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Maintain effective communication with students and families.
- Participate in professional development and collaborate on committees.
- Demonstrate professionalism and adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility.
- Implement CTECS Board of Education policies and directives.
- Maintain a positive school community image.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel and student matters.
- Report suspected child abuse to appropriate authorities.
- Option to maintain the State of Connecticut Teacher Retirement Plan or enroll in the State Employee Retirement System.
