Position Summary

The Assistant Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business, who reports directly to the Dean, supports the school's academic and administrative operations. This role focuses on student concerns, grade appeals, course scheduling, and faculty support. The position serves as a key connection among students, faculty, program chairs, and university departments, helping to ensure that policies and processes are applied consistently.

The Assistant Dean also addresses operational challenges, supports faculty and classroom needs, and may provide programmatic or instructional support when and where appropriate.

This position is remote-friendly, but the individual is expected to be on campus regularly and be available for on-campus events and special occasions as needed.

  • Oversee the School of Business Student Appeal Process (SAP) workflow.
  • Oversee the Post University Attendance Policy process and communication.
  • Review and facilitate grade appeals in accordance with university policy.
  • Serve as an escalation point for student academic concerns.
  • Ensure consistent application of School and university policies and procedures.
  • Support the conditional admission process for all programs.

Essential Functions Student Concerns, Appeals & Policy Administration
  • Oversee the School of Business Student Appeal Process (SAP) workflow.
  • Oversee the Post University Attendance Policy process and communication.
  • Review and facilitate grade appeals in accordance with university policy.
  • Serve as an escalation point for student academic concerns.
  • Ensure consistent application of School and university policies and procedures.
  • Support the conditional admission process for all programs.
Academic Operations & Scheduling
  • Coordinate course scheduling, section planning, and instructional coverage.
  • Partner with the Dean and Program Chairs to address academic and operational needs.
  • Monitor emerging student, faculty, and course issues and support timely resolution.
Data, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
  • Track, analyze, and report on key academic and operational data, trends, and outcomes to identify emerging issues, support decision-making, and inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, documentation, and reporting to support compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Faculty & Cross-Functional Support
  • Support faculty with classroom, instructional, and student-related challenges.
  • Coordinate communication and follow-up across academic and administrative departments.
  • Other functions to support the Dean of the School of Business.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a master’s degree in a relevant discipline, with a doctorate or progress toward a terminal degree strongly preferred. Candidates should also have at least 5 years of experience in higher education and/or relevant professional experience.
