SMT Corp is looking to hire an Electrical Engineer for our state‑of‑the‑art Electrical Test Lab. The Electrical Test Lab is a part of the SMT Corp counter​feit mitigation testing process which is used to authenticate and screen electronic components. SMT Corp’s customer base is primarily composed of defense, aerospace, and high‑reliability companies which require extensive testing to purchase electronic components from independent distributors.

Due to the lack of traceability, SMT Corp utilizes industry standard testing methods such as AS6171 or AS6081 to authenticate the material. As a part of that process, the Electrical Test Lab performs electrical testing to validate that the components meet the original component manufacturer’s specifications and quality requirements. As an electrical engineer at SMT Corp, the following items are part of the job responsibilities:

• Interpret customer testing flowdowns and MIL drawings, understand electrical component datasheets, and provide electrical testing quotes to SMT Corp sales people.
• Design PCB test fixtures for a wide variety of electrical components from passives to RF to complex active devices like FPGAs and CPUs.
• Write software to control and automate test equipment to perform electrical testing of components.
• Analyze and review electrical testing results to generate a report summarizing the data, test methods, and all relevant testing information.
• Technical support for Management, Quality Control, Sales, and Component authentication groups.
• Communicate with customers (technical and non-technical) regarding electrical testing requirements/problems and related information.

At a minimum, engineers are required to have the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or related field.

SMT Corp would prefer that candidates have the following:

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with designing and laying out PCB test fixtures for electronic components.
• Experience with National Instruments Lab View software to control and automate electronic component testing.
• Experience with complex digital device such as FPGAs, Microprocessors, and Microcontrollers.
• Experience with Advantest test equipment and software.
