Position: SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER

Duties

Develop and manage the utility maintenance action plan for Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization projects.
Prioritize utility projects to meet mission within annual budget constraints.
Supervise the proper operations and maintenance of utility production and distribution systems supporting military, industrial, and medical operations.
Communicate the status of utility systems, including projected outage durations, root cause analysis, and critical information reports requesting assistance when necessary.
Prepare after‑action reports following major utility evolutions to discuss lessons learned, root causes, preventive measures, and necessary follow‑on projects.

Qualifications

Selective Placement Factor (SPF):
Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

Applying knowledge of engineering principles, comprehensive technical, and professional engineering expertise related to utility production and distribution systems.

Overseeing the planning, design, and integration of all production functions (scheduling, repair, and maintenance) to ensure program objectives are met.

Ability to apply sound, independent judgment to solve complex problems.

Ability to lead a large‑scale operation producing diverse utility products within a complex technical and regulatory environment.

Preparing reports, production summaries, financial status reports, plans and specifications.

Directing and setting priorities for a team responsible for overseeing and managing utility systems.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or above the GS‑12 grade level or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Education

Applicants must meet one of the following basic education requirements:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other required written test for professional registration.

Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of engineering or appropriate scientific coursework meeting the specified requirements.

Completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry) with at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
