Summary

The Clinical Supervisor at Waterbury West is responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of day to day aspects of the Waterbury West Program and provision of direct care services. Reporting to the Program Director, he/she shall provide clinical and administrative day to day oversight to the program and provide clinical care in conjunction with their clinical team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain a client caseload and perform residential clinician duties, providing clinical assessments, individual and group therapy as assigned.
  • Recruit and supervise clinical staff such as Residential Clinicians, Service Specialists, Peer Support Specialists and Group Facilitators, including training of newly hired direct care staff, performance management, annual reviews, progressive discipline, and provision of Clinical Supervision (including co-signature of client clinical documentation) as required.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of all clinical staff members to maximize the quality of services delivered and to meet the needs of clients and referral/funding sources.
  • Manage a weekly workload that is a 50/50 split between direct care and administrative/supervisory duties.
  • Maintain flexible schedule to perform clinical assessments, provide individual/group therapy and intensive outpatient services while meeting productivity measures.
  • Serve as Acting Program Director in time of Program Director Absence.
  • Ensure that client insurance renewals are secured in a timely manner and assist when problems with insurance arise. Provide appropriate information to billing personnel as required.
  • Assist in monitoring the appropriateness of referrals and maintaining high bed utilization.
  • Complete all treatment planning and discharge documentation according to policy.
  • Input all clinical documentation in Connecticut Renaissance's EHR accurately and timely.
  • Assist in continuous evaluation of group therapy curriculum, seeking to maintain and improve offerings of evidence based modalities.
  • Communicate with referral sources on the status of each client's progress and performance within the program, including the preparation of reports.
  • Assist with residential operational tasks including but not limited to urinalysis/breathalyzer testing, head‑count, tours, medication monitoring, log book maintenance and transportation of clients when needed.
  • Complete all required trainings to enhance knowledge and skill level.
  • Ensure that the Program delivers services in line with contractual requirements, including the documentation of activities using funder communications/reporting systems.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations and standards of accreditation, facility licensure and funding sources. Assist in maintaining DPH and DCF licensing and CARF accreditation and ASAM Certification.
  • Ensure that staff members maintain their required licensing and certification status and complete all mandated training and development activities.
  • Maintain contacts with internal and external referral sources, including CSSD, DOC, and DMHAS.
  • Attend mandatory internal and external meetings.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals and grant applications for new or renewed program services.
  • May perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
  • The biological and psychosocial dimensions of substance use, mental health and co‑occurring disorders, including diagnosis, assessment and treatment.
  • ASAM 6 Dimension, Risk Assessment, and scoring.
  • Fee for service and billing requirements for residential services.
  • Electronic Health Record.
  • HIPAA regulations and other regulatory laws.
  • General office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability To
  • Supervise clinical and support staff, including the development of performance evaluations.
  • Manage client crises.
  • Analyze and solve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
