Position: PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST - FULL-TIME

Job Summary

The Peer Support Specialist holds a certificate from a certified Recovery Support program and works as part of the Coventry House Treatment Team. The main focus is client engagement in treatment and support for treatment completion with an aftercare plan.

Responsibilities include:

  • Completing required continuing education credits to maintain the Recovery Support Specialist certificate annually.
  • Focusing on client engagement and encouragement in treatment to support completion.
  • Providing each client access to necessary clinical, medical, social, educational, rehabilitative, vocational, and other services; linking with community resources.
  • Collaborating with the clinical team to identify required services by assessing each client’s overall needs.
  • Supporting client recovery by joining OP clinicians, primary care, and participating in individual treatment sessions as necessary.
  • Completing all required documentation related to treatment—including court letters, medical record gathering, copying, faxing, scanning, collateral contact, and appointment scheduling.
  • Engaging clients and supporting ongoing attendance by completing tracking documents and reports.
  • Assisting in the assessment of individuals in crisis or intoxicated clients to determine the need for crisis involvement or detox and facilitating admission to a detox facility.
  • Providing education, support, and consultation to individuals’ families and support systems focused on the well‑being and benefit of the individual.
  • Performing related duties as required, including client transportation (must have a reliable and insured vehicle).
  • Attending all mandatory departmental/agency meetings and trainings.
Schedule

Sunday – Thursday, 10:00 am – 6:30 pm

Requirements
  • Recovery Support Specialist training through Advocacy Unlimited.
  • Equivalent experience in a community health center or behavioral health setting may be considered.
  • Experience working with individuals in recovery from mental illness and substance use/addiction.
  • Proof of CPR certification within 60 days of the official start date for all Residential Support Staff employees.
Compensation

Hourly wage range: $21.25 – $25.00
