We are seeking a Precision Assembly Technician to join our Large Aperture Systems team in Middlefield, CT.
As a Precision Assembly Technician
, you will be responsible for the assembly and test of mechanical, electro‑mechanical and/or optical subassemblies and instruments.
- Perform electro‑opto‑mechanical assembly using precision tooling, fixturing and standard work instructions.
- Handle, install and secure large optical and mechanical components such as lenses or alignment fixtures while maintaining care for delicate surfaces and precision‑fit parts.
- Integrate the electro‑opto‑mechanical components and assemblies to perform final system qualification.
- Follow detailed manufacturing procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and safety practices.
- Partner effectively with engineers, supervisors and colleagues/peers to provide clear input and feedback on build progress, issues encountered and test results, ensuring smooth handoffs and continuous improvement.
- Work with strong attention to detail, including spotting irregularities, and meet precise quality and performance requirements.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
- Maintain required training certifications and adhere to safety and quality.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3‑5 years of hands‑on production manufacturing/operations.
- Solid mathematical aptitude.
- Experience assembling systems made from multiple components (mechanical, electrical, optical).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including Bill of Material (BOM), schematics and build procedures.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail to handle small optical/mechanical components.
- Collaborative team player with a focus on problem‑solving.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Organized, conscientious and focused.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and communication.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods of time.
- Driven to achieve with a commitment to quality with a safety‑first mindset.
