Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Obstetric Emergency Department (OB ED) is a critical member of the Labor & Delivery team, providing specialized, compassionate, and timely care to pregnant and postpartum patients presenting with urgent or emergent concerns. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, the ability to prioritize rapidly changing conditions, and a commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based care in a fast-paced, high‑acuity environment.
The OB ED RN collaborates closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and the broader multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

Shift12 Hour Day Shift
What You Will Do- Conduct rapid triage, perform comprehensive maternal–fetal assessments, and initiate timely interventions based on patient acuity and established protocols.
- Manage obstetric emergencies, monitor laboring patients prior to admission, coordinate care transitions, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families.
- Ensure accurate documentation, maintain readiness of equipment and supplies, and uphold all safety, quality, and regulatory standards within the department.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduates preferred. - Licensure:
Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Connecticut. - Certification: BLS required.
- 12‑hour shifts (7am to 7:30pm)
- Scheduled weekend and holidays required.
