Position Purpose
Cath Lab functions independently as a member of our team of Nurses, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Interventional Cardiologists. Within our two procedure labs, the RN provides care to patients undergoing elective and emergent invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures. The laboratory also performs pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, generator changes, loop recorder insertions, tilt table tests, transesophageal echocardiograms, and cardioversion procedures. This role ensures patient safety and comfort through patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, pre‑procedure preparation, and administration of conscious sedation.

What You Will DoIn this Cath Lab RN position, you will provide direct patient care to adult through geriatric patient populations.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, performing assessments, and monitoring during and after procedures.
- Setting up and maintaining a sterile field.
- Managing paperwork, including patient consent forms, lab results, and procedure documentation in EPIC.
- Participating in the Cath Lab procedure team as circulator, scrub, or monitor.
- Providing care to critically ill patients and functioning independently in a stressful environment.
- Ensuring hemostasis safely and appropriately with or without vascular devices.
- Entering patient orders and charges, checking charges for accuracy.
- Initiating patient/family teaching as appropriate to patient readiness to learn.
- Coordinating nursing care with other health team members.
- Assisting with equipment maintenance, inventory, and readiness checks.
- Obtaining supplies for individual cases and ensuring needs of the Cath Lab team are met.
- Monitoring patient position and assisting patients during procedures.
- Administering conscious sedation under physician direction.
- Managing rapidly changing situations and participating in clinical decision making.
- Monitoring hemodynamics throughout the procedure.
- Understanding the use of supplies and equipment across procedures.
- Participating in on‑call coverage.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. - Licensure:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Connecticut. - Required:
Live within a 30‑minute radius of the facility for on‑call duties. - Certification: BLS and ACLS required.
- Preferred:
Moderate sedation and Cath Lab experience strongly preferred.
Full time, 40‑hour Day Shift
