Position Purpose

The 12-month Nurse Residency Program at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury , CT, is designed for any Registered Nurse RN with less than 1-year of nursing experience to expand the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of a Registered Nurse to move from entry-level competence toward proficiency and expertise.

  • Develop clinical judgment and decision‑making
  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based, people‑centered care
  • Build leadership skills at the bedside
  • Apply research and best practices in daily care
  • Learn through collaboration with educators, preceptors, and peers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduated or projected to graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • Less than 12 months of RN experience
  • Valid Connecticut RN license required before orientation.
    * RN license number must be provided on the Monday before orientation
