Trillium is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector in Waterbury! This Direct‑Hire opportunity seeks a Certified Welding Inspector for a hands‑on, shop‑floor role responsible for implementing an AISC‑compliant inspection program. The role functions independently from production and reports directly to the QC Manager to ensure objective oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Review incoming materials, verify certifications, confirm traceability, and document any discrepancies.
  • Inspect layout, fit‑up, joint prep, preheat, and overall fabrication accuracy before welding begins.
  • Perform visual weld inspections, evaluate weld quality, identify defects, and ensure code compliance.
  • Confirm welders are qualified, WPS requirements are followed, and equipment settings meet standards.
  • Coordinate required NDE with third‑party agencies and maintain all related inspection records.
  • Complete final checks, including part identification, dimensions, and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Issue and track Corrective Action Requests, manage non‑conforming material, and maintain QC files.
  • Keep welder continuity logs and ensure inspection tools remain calibrated and documented.
Qualifications
  • Active AWS CWI.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection to AWS and AASHTO standards.
  • Current eye exam meets near‑vision requirements.
  • Strong ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, and DOT plans.
  • Working knowledge of AWS codes, AISC standards, and ASTM material requirements.
  • Familiarity with FCAW/dual‑shield processes and filler metal documentation.
  • Highly organized, detail‑focused, and confident, stopping work when non‑conformance is found.
  • Comfortable working in an active fabrication environment.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday / 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Annual salary range: $100,000–$110,000+ DOE.
