Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping plant operations running safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position maintains and repairs equipment, reduces downtime, and improves performance across mining, milling, and screening operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment and systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life
  • Respond quickly to equipment failures to minimize production downtime
  • Use mechanical skills including welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Identify root causes of failures and help implement long-term solutions
  • Support and lead maintenance projects when needed
  • Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance records
  • Assist with spare parts planning and inventory
  • Promote a positive, safety-focused work environment

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency
  • Share knowledge and support training of team members
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with industrial equipment (conveyors, pumps, drives, hydraulics, etc.)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and manuals
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Trade training preferred
  • Industrial maintenance experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs (occasionally more), standing, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to operate tools, equipment, and mobile machinery safely.
  • Capable of working in varying conditions, including noise, dust, and outdoor environments.

Work Schedule

  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and call-ins as needed.
