Come join our team! The Greater Waterbury YMCA is currently seeking a qualified Truancy Case Manager to join our team.
Job DescriptionThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Truancy Case Manager will provide assessment of school attendance issues with clients and families, and will arrange referrals/follow-up with appropriate community resources to improve school attendance.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Social Work or work experience in a related field
- Experience working with children and/or families
- Knowledge of positive youth development principles preferred
- Working knowledge of available community resources
- Strong counseling, crisis intervention and problem-solving skills
- Effective organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Respect for and understanding of diversity issues
- Must have and maintain a clean CT Driver’s License, state registration and be the policy holder of full auto insurance coverage
- Must pass Department of Children and Families, Criminal background, and CT state police checks, TB Test & medical clearance to work
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Performs intakes with clients
- Maintains a case file on all clients assigned.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Maintains appropriate contact with clients for service delivery, including 1-2 home visits per client
- Maintains regular and timely contact with all involved service providers for monitoring, case-collaboration and follow-up
- Attends and participates in staff trainings, internal and external meetings as scheduled by the supervisor.
- Provides timely written reports, verbal reports, data entry, and documentation as required by referral sources and supervisor
