MOW Driver

Job Summary

Part time, non‑union position.

Work hours:

7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Pay rate: $16.94 per hour (15 hours per week).

• Safe, responsible and careful operation of the program vehicle.
• Deliver meals to home‑bound clients and congregate meal sites as directed.
• Follow safe food‑handling procedures, ensuring the vehicle interior and exterior remain sanitary.
• Monitor client well‑being by making contact at the time of delivery and notifying the supervisor of any change in client condition; initiate emergency procedures as necessary.
• Maintain radio contact with the central office to facilitate communication.
• Communicate with the Meals on Wheels Coordinator/Assistant to develop an efficient route plan and follow the daily delivery schedule.
• Ensure the assigned vehicle is in good operating condition prior to loading meals; complete the daily vehicle operating checklist, track mileage and maintenance logs, and maintain route records as required.
• Check accuracy of meal counts prior to loading each morning.
• Report vehicle problems promptly and deliver the vehicle to authorized vendors for service when needed.
• Participate in training as directed by the supervisor.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Connecticut driver’s license.
• Minimum two (2) years of driving experience.
