The Financial Director II oversees all fiscal operations for the Vermont Department of Corrections, including budgeting, accounting, grants, contracts, and federal program administration. This role manages the Central Business Office, develops internal control systems, leads fiscal staff, and ensures compliance with accounting standards and federal regulations.
Key qualifications- Master's degree in accounting, business, or public administration with 2+ years professional fiscal experience, OR Bachelor's in accounting with 3+ years experience, OR Associate's degree with 5+ year
- Ability to interpret and apply federal grant regulations (2 CFR Part 200) and state fiscal policies
- Experience with budgeting, accounting, internal controls, and federal program fiscal administration including managing major fiscal programs
- Leadership and talent development skills with ability to mentor staff in budgeting, payroll, AP/AR, and grant accounting
- Strong problem-solving abilities with experience in complex reconciliations and cost allocation
- Experience with VISION system (Vermont's People Soft financial management system) may be required
