Mechatronics Engineer – Pilot Production Line

Location: Waterbury, VT |
Full-time

Verde Technologies is a climate‑tech startup building the next generation of lightweight, flexible solar modules. We turn cutting‑edge research into real, manufacturable products using pilot‑scale and roll‑to‑roll processes. We move fast, build in‑house, and value engineers who enjoy working hands‑on with hardware.

The Role

We’re looking for a Mechatronics Engineer to help maintain and expand our Pilot Production Line in Waterbury, VT. This is a highly hands‑on role where you’ll design tools, fix equipment, bring new systems online, and work closely with the R&D and tech teams on product design and manufacturing tools.

If you like building things from scratch, troubleshooting on the floor, and wearing multiple hats, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and build custom tools, fixtures, and electromechanical systems
  • Create product and tool designs, including CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Set up, commission, and make new tools operational
  • Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain production and lab equipment
  • Support product design activities, from concept to pilot‑scale hardware
  • Improve tool reliability, performance, and safety
  • Work closely with scientists and engineers to translate ideas into working hardware
  • Help with pilot line build‑out, upgrades, and integration
  • Document designs, fixes, and maintenance procedures
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with mechanical design and electromechanical systems
  • Comfortable with tool repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • CAD experience (Solid Works, Fusion 360, or similar)
  • Ability to move fast, learn quickly, and solve problems without a playbook
Nice to Have
  • Experience with solar, photovoltaics, or thin‑film manufacturing
  • Automation, controls, sensors, or basic PLC experience
  • Experience in startup, pilot‑line, or R&D manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, coating tools, or industrial equipment
  • Small team, fast decisions, minimal bureaucracy
  • Hands‑on work with real hardware
  • Opportunity to grow as the company scales
  • Unlimited PTO
