About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Quality Manager to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of our AS9100 quality management system. This person will drive quality culture, ensure compliance with aerospace standards, and play a critical role in positioning the company for long‑term growth and customer trust. The manager will serve as the primary quality leader, representing the company to customers, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the strategy, implementation, and ongoing management of the company’s AS9100‑compliant Quality Management System (QMS).
- Serve as the Management Representative for AS9100 certification audits and ongoing compliance.
- Perform internal audits, corrective/preventive actions, and management reviews.
- Perform quality investigation, analysis, and reporting for Returned Materials; communicate field failure and warranty data to engineering and production teams.
- Define, track, and report quality metrics and KPIs to drive performance and compliance.
- Manage the document control system, ensuring procedures, work instructions, and records are accurate and up to date.
- Work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to embed quality into product design, production processes, and supplier management.
- Develop and perform inspection and test procedures for incoming materials, in‑process production, and finished products.
- Train and mentor employees on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
- Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure quality management and compliance.
- Guide strategic decision‑making related to supplier selection, product reliability, and risk management.
- Lead management reviews and provide analysis of quality performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with AS9100 requirements and company goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of quality management experience in electronics or aerospace manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 (required); experience leading successful certification strongly preferred.
- Certification/experience with J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑600 and IPC‑A‑610 Class 2.
- Experience in supplier quality and customer‑facing quality issue resolution.
- Hands‑on experience with auditing, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and risk management.
- Familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes and test methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, small company environment, balancing strategy with hands‑on execution and long‑term vision with short‑term requirements.
This position is based out of our headquarters in Waterbury, VT.
Compensation:Compensation plan will include an annual salary within the range of $85K and $104K and full benefits. Overall compensation package will be based on experience.
