Position SummaryThe Field Engineer provides technical and field support for construction, maintenance, and outage activities at Millstone Nuclear Power Station
. Working closely with the Project Manager, General Superintendent, Superintendents, Quality Control, and client representatives, the Field Engineer helps ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, project schedules, and quality requirements.
This position serves as the link between engineering, project management, and field operations by resolving technical issues, coordinating work packages, documenting field activities, and supporting successful project execution.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide daily technical support to field construction and maintenance teams.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, work packages, and construction documents for accuracy and constructability.
- Coordinate field execution with Project Management, Superintendents, Quality Control, and client representatives.
- Assist in planning and sequencing construction activities to support project schedules.
- Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs), field change documentation, and engineering correspondence.
- Monitor work progress and verify construction activities comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Support field layout, measurements, and verification of installed work.
- Coordinate material deliveries and verify materials meet project requirements.
- Track and document project quantities, production rates, and completed work.
- Assist with project scheduling updates and progress reporting.
- Participate in daily planning meetings, safety briefings, and coordination meetings.
- Identify and help resolve technical issues that impact construction activities.
- Support quality inspections, turnover packages, and project closeout documentation.
- Maintain accurate field records, as-built drawings, and project documentation.
- Assist with subcontractor coordination and work planning.
- Promote compliance with OSHA, client, company, and nuclear safety requirements.
- Support outage planning, startup activities, and project commissioning as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of field engineering or construction engineering experience in industrial, heavy civil, power generation, or energy projects.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience supporting nuclear power plant projects.
- Experience with industrial construction, maintenance, or outage projects.
- Familiarity with work packages, quality documentation, and turnover processes.
- Experience with Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar construction software.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progression toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with field personnel, engineers, project management, and client representatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
