Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of construction, maintenance, and outage projects at Millstone Nuclear Power Station. This role provides leadership to project teams while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all client, regulatory, and quality requirements.
The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for the client and works closely with field leadership, engineering, project controls, safety, quality, recruiting, and corporate support teams to successfully execute complex industrial and nuclear projects.
Essential Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of project execution from mobilization through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Manage project financial performance, including forecasting, cost control, change management, and profitability.
- Serve as the primary liaison with client representatives, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
- Direct and support the General Superintendent, Superintendents, Field Engineers, and project support staff.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with contract requirements, project specifications, and company standards.
- Monitor project schedules and implement corrective actions to maintain milestones and deliverables.
- Review and approve project reports, cost reports, invoices, payroll, and procurement activities.
- Coordinate staffing requirements with Recruiting and Human Resources to ensure workforce readiness.
- Oversee subcontractor selection, performance, and contract compliance.
- Lead project planning meetings, progress reviews, and client status meetings.
- Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize operational impacts.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, nuclear industry standards, client procedures, and company safety policies.
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure work meets engineering and regulatory requirements.
- Review Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, work packages, and project documentation.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, productivity, quality, and cost performance.
- Mentor and develop project personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Support outage planning, mobilization, execution, and demobilization activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years of industrial construction experience, including 5 years in a Project Manager role overseeing large-scale industrial, power generation, or heavy construction projects.
- Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, project controls, and risk management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Previous experience managing projects at a nuclear power generating facility.
- Experience supporting maintenance outages, capital projects, and EPC or multi-prime construction environments.
- Knowledge of nuclear work control processes, quality assurance programs, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience managing union labor and subcontractors.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, SAP, or similar project management systems.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent financial management and business acumen.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Thorough understanding of project scheduling, cost control, procurement, and contract administration.
- Commitment to safety, quality, integrity, and operational excellence.
- Ability to work in both office and industrial construction environments.
- Ability to walk project sites, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate active construction areas.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
- Ability to travel within the project site and attend meetings at client facilities as needed.
