Waterford Public Schools serves approximately 2,400 students in grades PK-12. Position Summary:
The Assistant Field Hockey Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the field hockey program. This includes fostering athlete development, promoting sportsmanship, assisting with practice and game plans, and ensuring the safety and well-being of student-athletes. The assistant coach is expected to positively contribute to team culture, communicate effectively with players and parents, and represent the school with professionalism.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, games, and team events
Provide individual and small group instruction to improve players' skills
Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices and games
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, respect, and competitive spirit
Help manage team equipment, uniforms, and inventory
Attend all practices, games (home and away), and required meetings
Assist with injury prevention and adherence to athletic training protocols
Support academic success and overall development of student-athletes
Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, athletic department, and school administration
Comply with all school, conference, and state athletic association regulations
Serve as a role model in behavior, leadership, and professionalismEDUCATION /
QUALIFICATIONS:
CT Coaching Certification Required.
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred
Prior coaching experience (field hockey or other sports); playing experience strongly preferred CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
Knowledge of field hockey fundamentals preferred, strategies, and safety protocols
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
