Associate Instructor
LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for an Associate Instructor opening at The Friendship School in Waterford, Connecticut. The Associate Instructor will provide direct educational services to our students. The Associate Instructor is directly responsible to the Principal and Assistant Principal. Specific responsibilities include assisting teachers to identify long and short-term individual students, class, and program objectives;
preparing and maintaining written plans as needed; gathering and utilizing documentation of student work; planning and implementing individual and group activities as needed; alerting teachers to any unusual events occurring with the students; providing and maintaining a safe environment in which students can learn and interact; being responsible for appropriate behavior management of students; following routine school, program, and organizational procedures;
maintaining appropriate student records and submitting required reports within designated time limits; being sensitive to, and adjusting as necessary to, differences among students and considering the overall well-being of the individual students; handling personal information related to students in a professional and confidential manner; exhibiting professional and ethical behavior; and attending professional development activities as appropriate. Must have earned an associate degree or higher or achieve a passing score on the ETS Para Pathways Assessment.
