About the role:
Westinghouse is recruiting Alara Technicians to work at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station located in Waterford, CT. Provide ALARA support oversight as required for power-plant activities, providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned commensurate with individual certifications, qualifications, and skills. Additional responsibilities include predicting and tracking the potential dose that can be received by work groups and assisting in implementing actions required to maintain workers' radiation doses to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
In some cases, ALARA Techs will assist with shielding installation. The ALARA Technician is required to use/wear the appropriate safety equipment for each applicable task and may establish requirements for the use of protective equipment by other work groups. You will report to the Westinghouse site manager and be located onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activates.
- In addition to providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned determined by individual certifications, qualifications, and skills.
- Types of tasks RP Technicians may perform include the following: radiation and contamination surveys, material and equipment surveys, release of personnel and material, material escort, ALARA planning, help with decontamination activities, support Site Emergency Plan.
Qualifications:
- Dose trending
- Knowledge of Evaluate plant conditions and implement actions to lower radiation doses
- Perform Temporary Shielding Requests
- Review Radiation work permits
- ALARA planning/trending
- Conduct post ALARA review of specific jobs and RWP's
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of radiation detection and measurement equipment, including calibration and quality control.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly pay range for this position, which is dependent upon experience and qualifications, is estimated to be $50 per hour, Diem is $211 per day, with a completion bonus.
