Job SummaryNew England Mechanical Services, Inc. is currently seeking an Automation/Controls Technician/Installer responsible for supporting a Building Automation System (BAS) installation including mounting of control components, conduit low voltage wiring, terminations, system start-up, checkout and troubleshooting.
Requires a CT E2 or L6 License.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesInclude but not limited to the following.
- Plan installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and be consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.
- Pull wiring through conduit and label.
- Ensure that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Locate, mount, and terminate BAS end devices such as temperature sensors, relays and electronic actuators.
- Assist with job commissioning, start‑up procedures and owner training if necessary.
- Prepare sketches showing as‑built location of wiring and equipment.
- Attend project meetings as necessary.
- Work overtime, varied shift hours and occasional travel as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with supervisor and crew members.
- Work independently and as a team member.
- Coordinate with other trades on the job site.
- Keep trade licenses and certifications current.
- Attend all safety training provided and/or sponsored by NEMSI.
- Follow all NEMSI safety policies, procedures, and use personal protective equipment when performing installation and/or servicing HVAC systems.
- Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining a clean and neat appearance.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- CTE2 or S2 License required.
- High school diploma, certificate from college or technical school, and 2–5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license and an appropriate occupational license (if applicable).
- Work overtime, varied shift hours and occasional travel as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Apply concepts of fractions, ratios, percentages and proportions to practical situations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with supervisor and crew members.
- Work independently and as a team member.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, smell and lift, set‑up and climb ladders as well as stairways. The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move various weight ranges such as 0–50 lbs.
