The hospital provides general medical, surgical and maternity care to people living in South Kilkenny, Waterford City and County. The hospital provides specialty services to the population of the south east c. 500 000 in the following areas of clinical practice:
Cardiology (including Interventional Cardiac Procedures), Trauma Orthopaedics, Opthalmology, Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Urology, Vascular Surgery, ENT and Neonatology, Radiology, Pathology and Microbiology.
The hospital is the designated cancer centre for the south east, providing rapid access assessment for Breast, Prostate, Lung and Skin cancers. Haematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care is provided through our inpatient and day care facilities.
There are 431 inpatient and 85 day procedure beds.
Post:
. This consultant in Infectious Diseases will work and develop the full range of clinical care for patients with Infectious Diseases within our catchment area. This is a consultant delivered service.
Four consultants provide laboratory and clinical input, including out-of-hours service
The candidate will collaborate with the consultant microbiologists in providing clinical advice on management of complex infectious diseases cases managed by the unselected medical on-take teams, medical and surgical specialties.
Requirements:
-- IMC registration will be a plus, but we will help all candidates to register with the IMC if they haven't started the process. We will also help the candidate with all the paper work necessary to effectively incorporate to the job place.
-- All doctors must be a specialist in a country of the EU (European Union)
-- Minimum of 1 year post training experience as a specialist.
-- Experience in UK or Ireland will be a plus but isn't essential.
-- High level proficiency in English (spoken and written). No candidate without fluency in the language will be shortlisted for interview, the minimum level acceptable is a C1 level.
Salary and working hours:
- Salary will go from 231000€ to 300000€ (gross annual salary depending on your experience) for a 37 hour week.
Type of contract:
- 1-2 years or 6 months contracts with a possibility of extension.
Other benefits:
- 30 working days per year holidays+10 public holidays
- 7 days study leave for attendance at conferences/seminars
- Up to 3000€/year for educational funding.
