Position Summary
At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well‑being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off.

Responsibilities
- Provide customer service, processing both business and individual banking transactions; manage a cash drawer, cross‑sell bank services.
- Ensure comprehensive, prompt and efficient customer transactions.
- Trial balance cash drawer throughout the day.
- Balance and roll the drawer for the day at close of shift, comparing the balance to the system balance.
- Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary.
- Maintain institutional knowledge of banking.
- Receive cash and checks for deposit, verifying amounts, reviewing endorsements and checking for possible fraud including holds.
- Examine cash carefully to guard against counterfeit bills.
- Cash checks for customers in accordance with bank policy.
- Enter transactions into the computer system and issue receipts.
- Assist customers with transactions and ATM operations.
- Provide accurate customer service, including balancing the cash drawer throughout the day to reduce and eliminate teller differences.
- Understand basic knowledge of deposit and lending products and services.
- Identify correct product types through needs‑based questioning, allowing customers to build and deepen relationships.
- Consistently demonstrate knowledge of bank products and services by referring customers to appropriate business partners, assisting customers on electronic services, and entering opportunities into customer‑information software.
- Serve as relief and/or backup teller in other locations of Midland States Bank.
- Timely completion of all assigned learning activities.
- Actively participate in weekly huddles and one‑on‑one coaching sessions.
- Demonstrate and model Midland States Bank core values that support the bank’s culture.
- Participate in bank‑sponsored community activities.
- The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically to locations within the market as needed.
- May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and transport coin and currency bags weighing between 25lbs and 50lbs.
