This position is responsible for delivering the district curriculum to Preschool students and facilitating a safe, equitable learning environment that supports all students and meets Iowa Teaching Standards and district goals.
Hiring Specifications- Education: Appropriate degree(s) earned from an accredited college or university
- Certification: Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement PK‑3 R.D.; PK‑3 Teacher, Regular Education/Special Education
- Experience:
- Work with Preschool children and small‑group settings
- Work with students on the spectrum
- Co‑teaching background
- Self‑starter with ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong organizational and conflict‑resolution skills
- Commitment to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and human rights
- Experience in a special‑education setting, including writing IEPs and leading IEP meetings
- Ability to establish positive behavior supports and maintain confidentiality
- Experience collaborating with parents, staff, and community members
- Deliver Creative Curriculum in Preschool classrooms, supporting all curricular areas.
- Implement district curriculum, standards, and benchmarks.
- Assist staff with strategies to meet student developmental goals.
- Conduct IEP meetings, complete state/compliance paperwork, and write IEPs.
- Communicate regularly with parents and community members.
- Plan social/emotional/behavioral programming statewide.
- Collaborate with the principal, counselor, staff, and students.
- Maintain accurate records and protect confidential data.
- Support professional growth, including applying PD to practice and sharing results.
- Follow all district policies, regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and appearance aligned with policy.
- Use positive behavior support strategies and adhere to program standards (NAEYC, IQPPS, Head Start).
- Engage in home visits and family events as required.
- Assist with special federal and state programs or grants, complying with Title I and IDEA regulations.
- Knowledge of Google Suite applications
- Knowledge of computer storage devices
- Knowledge of educational copyright laws
- Knowledge of computer security expectations
- Para‑educators assisting in the classroom
