Your Responsibilities
As a Machining ME, Gear for John Deere Waterloo Works (DTO) located in Waterloo, IA, you will perform the duties and responsibilities of a Manufacturing Engineer associated with machining gear components:
- Recommend and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas.
- Assist in team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity, and efficiency.
- Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts.
- Provide support and troubleshooting to resolve production process, machine, and quality issues for current operations.
- Investigates, gathers, and analyzes data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks.
- Assist planning and implementation of projects related to new machines, processes, and parts.
What Skills You Need
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to interact with all levels in the organization and supplier personnel
- Demonstrated proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Demonstrated ability to proficiently use algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple, concurrent projects
- Ability and willingness to work variable hours including overtime, weekends, and off-shift based on business needs
- Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of turning, milling, drilling, and hard finishing of ferrous materials
- Experience applying gear and shaft manufacturing tools and technology
- Experience in shop floor process adjustments necessary to correct geometry and quality problems
- Experience with interpreting part prints and GD&T designations
- Experience with the use of AutoCAD, Creo, or related software
- Experience with leading and supporting cross functional teams for projects of moderate scope
- Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis tools
- Experience in using SAP
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technology field (agricultural, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical) or equivalent related work experience.
