Your ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Engineer for Engine CI (Continuous Improvement) at John Deere Power Systems, located in Waterloo, IA, you will be a key leader and contributor to improving our products and customer experience.
You will serve as the technical lead for warranty reduction, production support, and value improvement activities related to the Lube and Coolant engine subsystem.
- Analyze field issues by gathering warranty data, reviewing failed components, and requesting field investigations.
- Driving quality and system-level thinking into problem identification, root cause rigor, and project execution.
- Own and lead the most complex CI projects requiring a high degree of technical expertise and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams; delivering measurable business impact (warranty, quality, reliability, cost reduction).
- Provide technical assistance, training, mentoring, and guidance in project execution, best practices, technical decisions, and knowledge management to other CI Engineers on the team.
- Provide cross‑function influence and technical assistance to Customer Support personnel, and Quality and Resourcing projects.
- Assign projects to CI Engineers, balancing the project complexity, the Engineer expertise and development needs, and the group workload.
- Align work to JDPS priorities and customer impact. Focus on prevention and systemic improvement.
- Collaborate and share lessons learned with PDP and Global CI teams, update design guidelines, and improve processes and tools to support CI.

What Skills You Need- 5 or more years of product engineering experience
- Strong technical skills and leadership potential
- Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience solving complex engineering problems.
- Experience and recognition as an expert in one or more engine development competencies
- Experience with engine lube and coolant systems
- Engine experience in manufacturing development, applications, performance, lab and field test
- Experience with Six Sigma, systems engineering and other advanced tools/processes to support root cause analysis and problem resolution
- Experience serving as a mentor to less experienced engineers
- Experience working on global teams
- Passion for our customers and products
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related engineering disciplines
