As a Part-Time Student Factory Automation for JD Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA
, you will:
- Learn about and apply knowledge in technologies for manufacturing execution systems, vision systems (part location and inspection), and other automation technology in a production environment
- Opportunity to learn about and assist in programming Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs, Fanuc robots and CNC
- Assist with continuous improvement factory automation projects that support safety, quality, or efficiency initiatives
- Assist with Manufacturing Execution System setup and testing
- Assist other factory automation engineers with support in troubleshooting shop floor issues

What Skills You Need- Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Data Science; others may apply
- Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
- Graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
- Work 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester
- Must be able to commute to the Waterloo, IA work location on a daily basis
- Knowledge of databases (SQL, DB2, Oracle)
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Understanding network connectivity requirements for equipment
- Experience programming in multiple languages Python, Visual Basic, SQL
- Previous experience with Gen AI
- Knowledge of computer vision systems
Ideally, you will be pursuing a degree in:
- Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline
- Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Data Science
