Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring strong EKG interpretation skills and current IA or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities- Work in a 130-bed hospital unit specializing in Med/Surg Tele
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
- Care for patients requiring telemetry and management of drips including heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG/ECG rhythm strips and manage dysrhythmias
- May be required to float to Behavioral Health (BH), Emergency Department (ED), ICU, and post-procedural areas
- Uses Epic EMR; prior Epic experience is required
- Core duties include telemetry monitoring and administering cardiac-related drips
- First-time travelers are accepted with at least two years of nursing experience
- Must provide a skills checklist specific to Med/Surg Tele
- One recent reference from a supervisor or charge RN within the last 24 months is preferred
- Holiday coverage may be required
- May need to float to additional units as operationally needed
- Active RN license for Iowa or compact state is required and must be in hand
- Minimum 24 months of recent Med/Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele experience in a hospital or medical center setting
- Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience managing and administering specified drips
- Ability to competently read and interpret EKG/ECG and perform all telemetry duties
- Must pass the Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a score of at least 80% during onboarding
- Epic EMR experience required
- De-escalation certificate (CPI, MOAB, MAB, SAMA) highly preferred and may be obtained during onboarding
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification highly preferred and may be obtained during onboarding
- Valid driver's license required
