Insurance Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused professional to support our billing and claims operations. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment while developing expertise in healthcare reimbursement, insurance claims, and revenue cycle management.

• Reviewing patient accounts and claims to verify coding, pricing, and billing accuracy.
• Following up with insurance providers to secure payment for services rendered.
• Researching and resolving denied claims through payer portals, phone, email, fax, corrected claims, and appeals.
• Preparing and submitting supporting documentation to maximize reimbursement opportunities.
• Serving as a resource for providers, patients, and insurance representatives by answering billing-related questions.
• Applying knowledge of contract-specific billing and payment requirements.
• Identifying and resolving collection issues while maintaining a positive customer experience.
• Processing account adjustments and refund requests as needed.
• Preparing, organizing, and mailing hard-copy claims.
• Following established claim follow-up procedures to ensure timely resolution.
• Utilizing billing software and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel, to manage daily workflows efficiently.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous office experience with strong customer service skills, both over the phone and via email.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint in a professional setting.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or billing-related positions.
• Basic knowledge of medical billing and coding processes.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing terminology and insurance claim procedures.
• Bookkeeping experience and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to investigate issues, identify solutions, and drive claims to resolution.

This is a Contract position based out of Waterloo, IA.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
