Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of custodial duties in the facility and on the grounds of the Family YMCA of Black Hawk County in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and perform related work as required.
Essential Functions- Performs cleaning tasks of assigned areas of the facilities.
- Cleans and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, child care center and other parts of the facility as assigned; disinfect equipment; wash windows; stock facility with paper and supplies.
- Strip, clean, wax, buff and seal floors.
- Sweep, mop and vacuum floors.
- Remove trash in accordance with established procedures.
- Minor grounds keeping duties may be required (including snow removal and mowing)
- Occasionally setup or takedown of rooms for meeting, events or classes.
- Operates power equipment such as a floor machine, hand and power tools and pressure washer.
- Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs in and around facility
- Carries out additional tasks as assigned by the Facility Director
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Custodial and building maintenance preferred.
- Must complete and pass a background check prior to employment
Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to; lifting heavy items (up to 25 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise. Occasionally required to work under inclement weather conditions. Must have the ability to work at heights; such as on ladders, gym ceilings, roofs, etc.

Hours RequiredAvailable to work 16-25 hours per week. Scheduled shifts include a Monday-Friday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and occasional Sunday hours 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m on a rotating schedule.
