Job Summary
This position reports to the Operations Manager or New Goods Manager within the scope of the mission, guiding principles, values, ethics, and strategic goals of Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. The role is responsible for assisting with donation receiving, loading and unloading trailers, sorting, pricing and grading material, baling, filling in at retail locations as needed, customer and register transactions, operating a fork truck, and performing light‑duties maintenance and housekeeping.
The employee provides excellent service to both internal and external customers through clear communication, assistance, and a high quality of work.
- Greets donors pleasantly at their car and immediately unloads items, ensuring a welcoming donating experience.
- Distributes donations to the proper work or holding area and records donation counts accurately.
- Offers tax receipt forms to each donor.
- Sorts material between donor engagements, diverting 95% of unsaleable items to garbage or salvage.
- Sorts, prices, unpacks, organizes, and distributes inventory.
- Transfers and stores material in assigned locations.
- Verifies incoming and outgoing inventory.
- Prevents theft by remaining alert at all times, notifying management of any suspicious activities.
- Assists with shoveling snow, replacing light bulbs, washing windows, and other upkeep tasks.
- Advises and demonstrates job duties to new team members.
- Maintains the ADC in top‑flight condition and appearance by focusing on housekeeping and safety; communicates repair needs.
- Works collaboratively within the department to maximize service opportunities while maintaining a continuous improvement agenda.
- Prepares outgoing truck loads, including baling, sorting, operating forklift, and organizing.
- Assists truck driver in loading and unloading.
- Minimizes waste expense and maximizes salvage revenue by recycling products as efficiently as possible.
- Ensures all equipment is in safe operating condition with safeguards in place.
- Completes all duties of the job and all work requirements.

- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred; a minimum of 2 years of any combination of military service, high school, or related full‑time employment may substitute.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude, enthusiastic, and able to spread similar enthusiasm to others.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull fifty pounds with assistance.
- Loyalty to the agency, its mission, and policies.
- Reliable transportation with ability to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to obtain a forklift license if eligible.
- Responsible with facility access.
- Ability to use good judgment, discretion, and initiative.
