This position is open for current permanent Iowa Department of Corrections and Community Based Corrections employees only. Those in any other status are not eligible to apply.
- Supervises two Public Service Manager 1 positions and other supervising staff as assigned. Provides operational oversight and evaluation of probation/parole, treatment and residential facility operations and administration.
- Assumes duties/responsibilities of the Institutional Superintendent in their absence, maintaining all operational, fiscal and legal aspects of the district in collaboration with IDOC Central Office.
- Serves as a member of the district s executive leadership team, meeting as scheduled and participating in high level decision-making processes. Maintains professional working relationship with all employees and responds to employee concerns.
- Regularly visits all district work units at varied times to maintain employee relationships, assess physical plant needs and verify adherence to safety standards.
- Participates in various personnel processes, including hiring, promotions, and employee discipline. In consultation with the Institutional Superintendent, takes the lead on employee grievances or complaints.
- Develops, updates and reviews all District policies in accordance with annual requirements.
- Participates in designated statewide initiatives, programs and projects related to service implementation and evaluation.
- Collaborates with local service providers and justice system partners to identify and address gaps in service delivery and partner, where appropriate, to support the department s mission. Develops and presents contracts and other agreements to the Institutional Superintendent for approval.
- Provides input and oversight for the development and evaluation of the district s human, fiscal and physical plant resources. Provides input on development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the district budget.
