Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Perform first level of on-site technical, data recording and assessment within the manufacturing environment of Quaker Houghton customers. Follow standard procedures and adhere to Quaker Houghton’s Life Saving Rules.
Responsibilities- Add chemicals (coolants, greases, oils, lubricants, cleaners, biocides) as directed by site staff.
- Perform bio‑stick dip tests on all machine sumps and central systems.
- Assist in maintaining coolant filters, washers, paint systems, pumps and air‑handling systems to keep fluids within proper limits.
- Measure and record coolant parameters and maintain lubrication schedules.
- Assist in routine maintenance on customer equipment (product additions, filter changes, emptying gons, sump cleaning).
- Dispose of contaminated articles (pails, gloves, samples) in accordance with prescribed waste‑management measures.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment (scales, pH meters, glassware, incubators).
- Keep tools and utility equipment (pumps, sump suckers, coolant dispensers) safe and efficient.
- When appropriate, cut‑up, mount and prepare parts for metallurgical testing, surface etching, hardness and microstructure analysis.
- Support site staff’s general organization initiatives (inventory, storage rooms, labeling).
- Operate hand tools, shop tools, industrial equipment such as fork trucks, sump suckers, power washers, tuggers.
- Support additional quality‑control and related duties as directed.
- Provide other Fluidcare services as agreed with the Site Manager or Lead Technician.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- May be required to obtain certifications or licenses.
- Minimal or no experience in a manufacturing environment acceptable.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate reading skills and ability to present information.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Proficient data entry in MS Excel and Word; reporting activities.
- Forklift truck driver’s license or willingness to undertake training.
- Basic working knowledge of Internet software, e‑mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and project tracking.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- May involve standing for long periods, walking great distances, using hands, fingers, arms.
- May require sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, working in small spaces and high locations.
