The Manufacturing Support Technician assists with production and engineering tasks by creating and managing job documents and build instructions to facilitate proper and efficient product assembly. Acting as a link between Engineering and Production, this position involves interpreting drawings, preparing assembly guides, and recording enhancements and experiences from builds. The focus is on enhancing communication of work instructions, job details, and build records to streamline production operations.
The Manufacturing Support Technician ensures that tasks are well-defined, consistent, and well-documented for efficient and uniform assembly.
- Create and manage job documentation for products and key assemblies
- Update build instructions with detailed steps and visual aids
- Prepare assembly diagrams when drawings are unclear
- Clarify job requirements between Engineering and Production departments
- Document issues, revisions, and updates for initial builds
- Organize and maintain job records, standard procedures, and build instructions
- Review BOMs, routes, and job documents for accuracy before release
- Update job records and documentation based on post-build reviews
- Assist in developing standard procedures and setup guides for recurring tasks
- Observe production processes to improve documentation and procedures
- Experience in a manufacturing setting (production, engineering, quality, or similar role)
- Preferably an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Drafting, or Engineering Technology
- Background in job shop or high-mix manufacturing environments is a plus
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings and BOMs
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
- Effective communication abilities with production staff and engineers
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel
- Capable of managing multiple projects and maintaining updated documentation
- Willingness to spend time on the production floor for build observations
- Experience in creating work instructions, job documents, or manufacturing records
- Familiarity with ERP systems, routers, and BOMs
- Basic understanding of CAD or drafting would be beneficial
