Job Summary
The director of development will lead the agency’s fundraising and resource development efforts by building and maintaining partnerships, donor relationships, and executing a strategic fundraising plan. This position will be out and engaging donors, businesses, and the general public about 70% of their work time. We are seeking someone who loves to connect, socialize and build relationships.
KeyRoles & Responsibilities
- Donor Relationships | FOF Campaigns | Strategic Planning
- Accountable for the execution and success of the development VTO. Works closely with the CEO to develop and implement creative fundraising strategies that inspire giving, strengthen donor loyalty, and advance Friends of the Family’s mission.
- Identify and build relationships with new and prospective donors and work to diversify revenue streams.
- Maintain long-term relationships with existing agency supporters.
- Build and maintain strong community relationships by representing Friends of the Family at outreach meetings, events, and networking opportunities with nonprofits, businesses, service clubs, and individual supporters.
- Solicit major gifts and planned giving opportunities.
- Responsible for the success of the Circle of Friends annual fund drive and other agency giving campaigns.
- Evaluates and updates current target markets.

Competencies:
- Must demonstrate ability to organize, prioritize and plan work to meet deadlines.
- Ensure confidentiality is in place for all people FOF serves.
- Bachelor Degree in marketing, sales, business OR combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Previous experience in the following preferred: sales or fundraising, engagement, public speaking.
- Ability to travel throughout the FOF service area to deliver in-person engagement and to other locations within the state as necessary for training purposes.
- Ability to pass state, federal, and child abuse background checks.
